Soul is a Disney Pixar film that came out in December 2020. Here is our short review of the movie.

Each of us thought about the following three questions and then shared a short review;

What Elaine thought about Soul

Soul felt like the first more "grown-up" Pixar movie to me, but with plenty to keep kids entertained.

The soundtrack is great with Jon Batiste's jazz music whilst on earth and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' new age music in the great before.

I love cats, so I already have a few Mr Mittens and Soul Cat pins.

As someone who has undergone a major career change, I resonated with its message of living life not being defined by any particular role but enjoying the little pleasures like people and pizza!

What Megan thought about Soul

I wasn't a huge fan of Soul. It didn't engage me as quickly or as fully as some of Pixar's previous offerings.

However, I would be keen to watch a sequel following 22's adventures on earth.

I would recommend Soul to anyone who is a fan of jazz music, as the soundtrack is fantastic.

I wouldn't be tempted to collect any of the Soul characters as pins.

What Toby thought about Soul

I really enjoyed the music and the animation in Soul, and whilst I haven't watched it since my first watch, I would happily watch it once or twice a year.

I'd recommend Soul to anyone looking for a more "mature" Pixar film. Not that other films don't have deep themes, but this one leans very heavily into them.

Whilst some of the pins are incredibly cute, I don't think you could talk me into collecting them.

Where to watch Soul

You can catch Soul on Disney+, where it has been available since its release. If you live in America or Canada, you can buy it for $1 (!!!) from the Disney Movie Club or on DVD/Blu-Ray from Amazon.

If you're in the UK and don't have a Disney+ subscription, you can buy it on Blu-ray from Amazon.

What did you think of Soul?

We'd love to know what you thought about this movie, and if your collecting pins from it. Let us know in the comments below!
