It's A Pin World Afterall.
Hello! Hola! Bonjour! Guten tag! Aloha!
This will be my first ever submission to the Pin Trader Club site! It will also be the first article that I have ever written, bar during my time in high school; of which I don’t imagine I got particularly good grades in, so please bear with me!
I’m the first to admit I have a bit of an addictive personality. I have gone through many phases of love (or obsession… you decide) for many different things: from Doctor Who to Harry Potter, perfumes to yoga pants (which unfortunately didn’t create a love for exercise… I’m still waiting on that one) and, of course, Disney. In particular Disney pins and, more recently, trading.
Personally, I think that there are worse things that I could be addicted to- perhaps my bank balance will disagree- so I welcome the excitement and sense of community that my pin collection has given to me. Who knew a tiny piece of metal with a spike on the back could bring you so much joy?!
I haven’t been collecting very long at all, however, I can clearly remember when I bought my first pin. 2013. WDW. The UK Pavilion. EPCOT. It was there where I purchased a Merida pin. It was a wonderful experience- cast members truly do make you feel like you are purchasing the most exciting piece of merchandise ever, and the transaction was so memorable! I left feeling super(califragilisticexpialidocious)!
Merida returned back to the UK with myself where she sat beautifully, on display, however over the years, she disappeared out of sight. Yet it was many years after this, when moving house, that I rediscovered this tiny piece of happiness. My mind was immediately cast back to when I purchased the pin and how elated I felt to be reunited with my first pin. I wondered if there was a way to get more pins in the UK. After a quick Google, I turned to YouTube and was soon lost down a rabbit hole of pin collection and pin trading videos! I was hooked again.

Soon after I made a pinstagram account and started purchasing and trading. I have made a few friends along the way and hope to continue to do so. It reminded me of belonging to the many fandoms that I had been part of since my teens, but with less nastiness. I have not yet encountered a negative part of this community; bar the sheer amount of scrappers and fakes circulating, which it seems when I visit the parks, unfortunately will be unavoidable. However, I will be utilising all of the hints and tips that I have learnt from this wonderful community to help me sniff out the fakes!
If you are still reading this, thank you for sticking with my monologue. I just wish to, essentially, put in my two pence about my view of the pin trading world - I just love it. I hope it will continue to bring me as much joy as it currently does at the moment and I wish to further my involvement in pin trading and pinstagramsphere. A big thank you to the whole pin trading community for welcoming me in with open arms.
See ya real soon!
Bye! Adios! Au Revoir! Auf Weidersehen!
