Interview with Kip about his pin collection

We were happy to speak to Kip about his pin collection recently. Hopefully, you'll enjoy reading about it!

Thanks so much for agreeing to take part Kip, to start, can you tell us a little about yourself?

I'm 47 and live in Eastern North Carolina. I was born and raised near Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. My wife and I have been married for 20 years.

Excellent stuff, and when and how did you get into pin trading?

My wife and I went to Disney World in 2017 for an anniversary trip and discovered pin collecting while there.

That is exactly how we started too! What are your main collections, and why?

I mainly collect pins of things and characters I like.

You're the first person we've spoken to who doesn't limit themselves to specific characters! Roughly how many pins do you have?

We probably have over 300 pins between the two of us.

And out of those 300, do you have a favourite?

My favourite is a pin of Robin Hood and Little John from Robin Hood.

That is a lovely pin! What do you like most about pin trading?

Meeting new people and the excitement of seeing different pins.

If you could change one thing about pin trading, what would it be?

I would love to make it easier to find places to trade or purchase pins.

Do you have any advice for someone who wants to get into pin trading?

I have found that you can get quality pins in bulk bags off eBay. We do that a lot at Christmas and then go through the bags and see which ones we want to keep.

Thanks so much for taking the time to chat with us Kip! And lucky you getting good pins in bulk from eBay; we've been stung by fake pins when buying in bulk. It is great that you go through them all!

If you're a pin trader and would like to be interviewed by us, please get in touch.
